Four Points Compass Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 31, 2026

Four Points is a compass app for Android made by Adam Thompson (“I”, “me”). This policy explains what the app does with your information.

The short version

Four Points does not collect, share or sell any personal information. It has no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking. The app has no internet access, so it cannot send your information anywhere.

Location

If you grant location permission, Four Points uses your device’s location to:

Location is processed completely on your device. The app saves your most recent position on the device so True North is available as soon as you open the app. It never sends your location to me or to anyone else.

You can use the compass without granting location permission. Coordinates and True North won’t be available. You can revoke the permission at any time in your device’s settings.

Settings and backups

Your settings (True North on or off, and your coordinate format) and your last position are stored in the app’s private storage on your device. Uninstalling the app deletes them.

If Android backup is turned on, your device may include this data in your Google account backup, as it does for most apps. Google handles these backups under its own privacy policy; I can’t access them.

Clipboard

When you tap your coordinates, the app copies them to your device’s clipboard. It does not read anything from the clipboard.

Sensors

Four Points reads your device’s motion and magnetic sensors to work out which way your device is pointing. This data is used only on screen and is not stored.

Children

Four Points does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, I’ll update this page and the date above.
